MEET THE OWNER

LaWanda "LaLa", a self-taught seamstress, fashion designer, and passionate entrepreneur, was born/raised and resides in Charlotte, North Carolina. Raised by a hard working/hustling single mother, she was exposed to the dancer lifestyle early in life, as her mother had to make a way to support herself and her child. 

During her adolescence, LaLa showed interest in the beautiful clothing, shoes and accessories her mother would purchase for work. For her, it was like watching her mother transform into a luxurious doll right before her eyes. Fueled by her mother's inspiration, she gained interest in fashion and designing. Learning how to sew and create patterns the age of 15, and began designing her own pieces little by little. This hobby lasted for a while but did not take a professional turn until 2020, during the COVID pandemic. During the involuntary time everyone spent on lockdown, LaLa took the time to get back to her old hobby of fashion designing. 

With a vision to combine the bold sex appeal of southern strip club fashion with the vibe of luxury fashion influences, LaLa officially launched Striptique in 2021. Her boutique specializes in handmade, luxury exotic dancewear and customized fishnet lingerie, embodying her unique style and dedication to empowering women through fashion.
